A Halloween Recipe for Good Health

Since Halloween is coming soon and many of you will likely be carving pumpkins this weekend, I thought I'd post some instructions for making the best pumpkin seeds ever! But first, there is good reason: Pumpkin Seeds are good for you. Specifically, the oil in pumpkin seeds can reduce damage to prostate cells and it is sometimes used as a partial treatment for enlarged prostate. Pumpkin Seed oil is commonly found in dietary supplements that support prostate health so since you're probably already going to be elbow deep in pumpkin this weekend, why not make use of the seeds.

Actually, preparing and cooking them is pretty simple but mine seem to be preferred by family and friends every year. Here's how I make them:
  • Do NOT wash them, the moisture from the pumpkin guts helps them brown and gives them flavor.
  • Apply a light coating of olive oil on a baking sheet and spread seeds uniformly. Make sure they are spread in only a single layer.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pop into a preheated oven to 350.
  • After 5-7 minutes, move the seeds around with a spatula and apply more salt.
  • Repeat once more after another 5-7 minutes.
  • Total cook time is 15-20 minutes depending on how crispy you like them.

Let them cool before eating or you'll get burned.

Is there anything I can do to ease my joint pain?

The typical thing most people, including myself do when they are bothered by joint pain is ignore the problem and hope it will go away. Mine didn't go away so I spoke with a friend who is a pharmacist and she suggested I take glucosamine and chondroitin. So I ran out to Walgreen's and purchased a large bottle of pills that had sufficient amounts of both ingredients. 30 days later I still had the pain and hadn't noticed any improvement so I doubled up on the recommended dosage thinking that might help. Another 30 days go by and still no change.

I give up on my pharmacist friend's advice and decide to go online and look for alternatives to her advice.I learned about research conducted at the Harvard Medical School and Mayo Clinic both suggesting there are natural ingredients that can really help people with joint problems. After more research, I learn about Hyaluronic Acid, which is a naturally occuring ingredient in all of our bodies but also that our bodies tend to decrease the amount they produce as we age. Great, so now that I've identified the problem and potential fix, how do I get my body to make more of this stuff like it did when I was younger?

Unfortunately, its not that easy. I can't will my body to make more, or to my knowledge, change my diet to encourage its production. After still more research online though, I came across a company that manufactures a product containing Hyaluronic Acid along with other ingredients EXACTLY for this reason - to relieve sore joints!

Bingo, I placed my order for the Ultimate Joint Flex Plus made by Hampshire Labs and my order arrives a few days later. I kid you not that after taking this product for less than 10 days I was feeling some relief. After about 2-3 weeks, my joints didn't bother me at all! I'm not sure how all of the ingredients work in concert or if its just the Hyaluronic Acid alone thats doing the trick but either way, it works and I couldn't be happier to have found an inexpensive and safe solution to what used to be chronic joint pain.

Key ingredients that can help men with prostate problems

Unfortunately, all men will eventually develop a prostate problem. It is a leading male health risk, second only to heart disease. Most doctors agree that the prostate starts to enlarge at age 30 and although most men don't notice the negative effects of an enlarged prostate that early, the vast majority of us will experience 'problems' at some point in our lives.

As you might imagine, extensive research has been done to alleviate prostate problems and even cure them. Following is a list of natural, herbal remedies that have been shown in studies to promote prostate health.

Beta Sitosterol is widely known as the best natural prostate health nutrient available.

Campesterol is a scientifically advanced phytosterol complex that also provides beta-sitosterol that is most effective for prostate health.

Stigmasterol and Brassleasterol are a steroid hormone raw material.

Isoflavones hinder mutant cell growth.

Selenomax should be found in abundance in a male’s reproductive organs but levels decrease with age.

Zinc Citrate is needed for hormone production and supports a healthy reproductive system. It is widely used to maintain normal prostate function.

Pumpkin Seed Oil has shown that it can reduce damage to prostate cells. It is also used to treat an enlarged prostate.

Weather or not you do anything to promote a healthy prostate for yourself, you should at least know the facts about symptoms and treatments. Symptoms can be many including loss of sexual drive and function, the need to urinate frequently which can negatively impact quality of life and ability to sleep through the night. The sexual issues typically have a substantial impact on the suffers confidence level and his relationships.

The good news is that there are numerous natural products available that contain the ingredients generally accepted to promote a healthy prostate and many inexpensive. The other good news is that natural supplements typically have no side effects and they don't require a prescription so you can take them worry-free long before you start to realize the symptoms (remember, your prostate starts growing around age 30)!
